Hello! I am currently a postdoc in Nolan Kane’s lab in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department at University of Colorado, Boulder. I study evolutionary genomics of plants including flax (Linum), sunflower (Helianthus) and Cannabis sativa. I finished my PhD in 2024. My dissertation focused on describing population genetic diversity and the evolutionary history of Lewis flax (L. lewisii) and some of its close relatives. Chapter 1 is published, Chapter 2 is available as a pre-print, and the rest is forthcoming. This work is in collaboration with Brent Hulke (USDA-ARS, North Dakota State University) and supports an effort to domesticate Lewis flax as a new perennial oilseed crop. During my PhD I also led a paper which examines the role of alternative RNA splicing during adaptive divergence of sunflower ecotypes. I am interested in topics including genetics of adaptation, domestication, mating system evolution, and the evolution of gene regulation, especially as they pertain to conservation and sustainable agriculture.
